In short, I needed a gigging do-it-all amp that was light weight, easy to carry to gigs and capable of reproducing the sounds for all of the covers that we do in my band. I had tried Line 6 products in the past but found them lacking in authentic sounding clean tones and difficult to program and manage in performance. The Mustang III V2, while lacking some of the high velocity attack and punch of my old Fender Blues Deluxe, pretty much nails the clean tones and gets it all right. Is it a tube amp? No, but the sounds are close enough to be totally gig worthy, the work flow is easy enough that with a bit of preparation, I've got all the sounds that I need readily available at gigs, it's inexpensive, reliable and gets the job done. Oh, and it's fun!
Is it gig-worthy? Absolutely. Guitarists may notice that it's not a tube amp, but audiences never will. (News flash: We play for audiences, not guitarists) With some tweaking, the sounds are punchy, warm and very close to the amps that they emulate. There's plenty of power, plenty of i/o options for gigs and for the most part, the effects are totally useable and good sounding.
The intelligent pitch shifting effect is very cool. I use it to add lead harmonies in some of the Alman Brother's covers, for a subtle "12 string" effect in some songs, etc. Unlike some modelling amps, patch changes are immediate with no lag at all, so I can turn things on and off in a musical way.
I bought the optional 4 button foot switch and have set things up so that I have six buttons for controlling every parameter within a patch, then change modes to bank up/down through scenes. With a bit of preparation, it works perfectly for gigs and rehearsals. A bit of EQ and Level adjustments for gigs and I'm ready to go.
My only complaint is with the Fuse software. It's interface does not make the process of saving patches to the amp very clear and it takes some struggling to learn that process. It's a minor annoyance.

I just got my limited edition Mustang III today and I can't stop playing. I heard a lot of good things about Fender Mustangs, so I have been wanting to buy one for almost a year now. I was planning to buy a Mustang IV for Christmas, but when I saw the Red Edition of the M3 I quickly ordered it from my local dealer.
Though smaller than the M4, the Mustang III packs enough punch for gigs. I love its proprietary modeling technology which sounds quite close to their originals, including subtle nuances you only normal find in tube amps. It is beautiful, configurable and very affordable. This will be my new go to amp for live performance. I highly recommend it.
