Fender’s new Rustler open-back banjo produces a nice mellow tone with comfortably lightweight feel. Features include a maple open-back body with a smooth satin finish, maple rim and neck, and 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with “snowflake” position inlays.

I have wanted a banjo for some time and have dabbled with other instruments. My teen son who has a band and is quite talented mentioned we should get a banjo. That was all it took and we were off to the music store. We played several banjos and for the money you can not beat the tone and overall quality of the Rustler. Now I can't go a night without playing this banjo it sounds good and makes you want to keep practicing!

At age 72 I decided to fulfill a life-long dream and learn to play the 5-string claw-hammer style banjo. I can't tell you how many people thought I was going in way over my head. I feel sorry for them.
After doing the research I decided to not buy sight unseen on the web, but to compare banjos in the price range of the Rustler at various music stores. As I imagined it came down to pure subjectivity. I found no banjo in this price range that came close in comfort, build, fingerboard action, and most importantly if not most subjectively, TONE.
