SHOCKED BY QUALITY!!!!

This is one SWEET guitar!!! Out of the box setup GREAT!! Comfortable to play and resonant pine body. Transparent Daphne blue looks SO much better in person. Mine stays in tune fine, But I don't use the vibrato. Fit and finish rank right up with the Japan quality. Have owned a Pawn Japan Mustang in the past. Heavier weight then a usual Mustang which I like. And the neck profile feels just right for my medium sized hands. The P90s in these are nice and clear too. The 3-way slider switches give you extra tonality when you need it(On/Off/Phase). Shielded cavities keep the hum down, Decent vintage tuners and Dynamic vibrato. Only issues I have are- For the price it should come with at least a gigbag and mine didn't have a Registration card/Manual ,Only box and plastic bag with vibrato bar and allen wrenches for adjustment. Bought an American Special first and exchanged it for this. To each their own, But I like this one much BETTER!!! Fender china has stepped up their game!! I'm sure to get back what their "EPI" competition has taken away. Overall I'm VERY pleased with this guitar!!!!!!

I loved it since i seen it on the wall, it plays perfectly and I can make it sound just like a Kurt Cobain mustang with the right distortion pedal, I recommend it.

I brought this guitar about 2 months ago and will never look back. I was looking for a backup guitar and had my eyes on squier jazz master until I went to buy it and stumbled across this. I love mustangs and even more with p-90s. It is now my main guitar I use and will be for a very long time. I've found it very easy to get on with it's just such great guitar. Great value for little expense

I was looking to add another guitar to the collection and set out playing Les Pauls, mostly for the HBs to have some different from my single coils. I play a Vox AC15 and I just couldn't vibe with the LPs. I know they are great guitars, but not for me. On a whim waling around the store I noticed the Mustang and the P-90s. I picked it up and walked over to a Vox AC15, plugged in the Mustang, and was immediately sold.

The M90 pickups have an amazing tone. I couldn't believe the guitar was made in China. It has a great finish and it is put together very well. It is a great budget guitar with amazing tone. Easy to play. What more can you ask for.

No regrets (after modifications)

Every once in a while (about once a year), I purchase a guitar on a whim. After browsing the Web, I decided to go with a 24" scale guitar and settled on the Modern Player Mustang. No one had this guitar in stock locally so I purchased it sight unseen.

For those of you who worry about the guitar being made in China or the body made of pine...don't. Out the box, the fit and finish was flawless and the guitar feels very solid. In fact, mine weighs a hefty 9 pounds.

On the plus side, there's not much to dislike about the guitar. The neck is great, the body is very resonant and the tuners are fine. I was more than pleasantly surprised by the MP-90 pickups. I never knew single coil pickups could sound so good, with a nice growl and punchiness and minimal hum. I'm seriously considering retrofitting a couple other guitars I have with similar pickups.

On the negative side, other people have mentioned how the guitar doesn't stay in tune because of the bridge design. This is not an issue for me as I don't use the vibrato and the guitar has stayed in tune just fine.

In my opinion, the only problem with the guitar is that the high E string is way too close to the edge of the neck. The string barrels are just too wide for the neck. I also find the frets are filed at too much of an angle which doesn't help. The solution for me was to replace the barrels with Graphtech Mustang barrels which give the correct string spacing for the guitar. This involved drilling new holes in the bridge plate which I wasn't very happy about but it fixed the problem. I also changed the strings to 10s but that is my preference.

Finally, a little booklet explaining the bridge, the pickup configuration, and how the guitar generally differs from other more conventional guitars would have been nice.

In the end, I have no regrets and would purchase the guitar again if it got stolen. However, I would urge Fender to fix the string spacing problem.

Amazing Guitar!

Blues Alternative Rock Classic Rock Heavy Metal

To start off with I have everything from a 2011 Gibson Les Paul Custom to American Stratocasters to Japanese Kurt Cobain Mustangs. The quality on this guitar is very good and in my opinion is on par with the quality of the Japanese Mustangs of which I am very happy with. Actually some things are nicer on this guitar like the fretboard which is a darker rosewood.

This guitar is pretty much flawless and I am VERY picky with fine details. One thing that always turned me off cheaper guitars was the poor finishing of the truss rod hole area. They would leave debris or finising wax in there and clear coat over it and it just looks like crap. Not so with this guitar!

As for playability, she plays like butter and the pickups sound very clear. The neck has a nice feeling "C" shape to it with a bit of chunk to it but not too much. Mine also has a bit of weight to it and feels heavier than the Japanese Cobain Mustangs which I like. It feels solidly built. Overall you just can't go wrong with this guitar. It looks stunning especially sporting the p-90's which makes it somewhat unique for a Mustang.

On a final note, if you can't find a Mustang Case for this guitar you can use a Stratocaster Pro Series tweed case with some "massaging" or pushing in of the foam at the top and bottom of the case. I have the Fender Mustang case as well and I prefer the look of the Fender Pro series tweed case with its plush orange lining. It has a bit of room on the sides with the Mustang inside but still fits snug. This "mod" does work... it just takes about 5-10 minutes of pushing the foam in where the headstock and the bottom of the guitar contact the inside of the case. This guitar looks drop dead gorgeous sitting in this case.

My favourite guitar by far

The modern player Fender Mustang is by far my favourite guitar. For the price, you get so much back and I've never not enjoyed playing this guitar. Considering it's associated with grunge music mainly, I've managed to use it for a few different styles of music including blues-rock, so it's really durable. Most of all, i love how compact and small it is, it's like a small, sleek battle tank. All of my friends are jealous too I might add.

Fender Modern player Mustang will not stay in tune

Professional Blues R&B Jazz Rock Classic Rock Folk Country

I purchased this guitar a few weeks ago from my local GC. After a couple weeks of trying to get this beast to stay in tune, I have given up and I am ready to take the guitar back and get a refund. The original Mustang would never stay in tune and neither does this one or any of the other Mustangs with the same vibrato bar I would imagine. This guitar sounds and plays phenomenal; but it completely tanks because of that old school vibrato bar. You would think after 50 years they would have figured it out? It's just sad.
