Fender® FUSE™ Pedal and Rack FX

In Fender® FUSE™, I notice some icons that look like guitar pedals or rack mount efftects. What are those used for?

The FX section in Fender® FUSE™ is split into four categories representing the four types of effects that are found in the Fender® G-DEC® 3, Mustang™ Series, Passport® mini, Bronco™ 40 and Super Champ X2 amplifiers. *Any of these Effects types can be used in the "pre" or "post" position as either a pedal or rack style effect. These effects are:

  • Stomp Box
  • Modulation
  • Delay
  • Reverb
*Stomp Box
The Stomp Box effect includes effects such as Overdrive, Touch or Fixed Wah, and Fuzz. These FX are known to introduce a desirable distortion or grittiness to the sound of your instrument. When a Stomp effect is used with the Fender® Super Champ™ X2, it can only be placed in the "pre" position, and can be saved along with the amp in any of the available Voice locations on the Super Champ X2 (Channel 2).
Modulation
The modulation effects include various types of choruses, flangers, tremolos, and filters, among others. These are usually time or pitch based FX that can thicken or provide vibrato or phasing to an instruments sound.
Delay
Delay is another time based effect. These FX can be thought of as kinds of rhythmic echoes that can be used to achieve a doubling effect, to thicken a sound, or to give the impression of more than one musician playing at the same time.
Reverb
Reverb is used to give the listener a sense of space. The proper reverb type and amount of reverb can make a bedroom performance sound like you are playing live at Madison Square Garden. There are many reverb types included in the Fender G-DEC 3 such as Hall, Plate and Room reverbs. There are even settings that have been modeled after the classic ‘63 and ‘65 Fender Spring Reverbs.
These effects, with the exception of the Stomp Box, can be inserted into the signal chain pre (before) or post (after) amplifier. Pre-amplifier effects are shown in Fender FUSE as floor pedal hardware effect modules while the post-amplifier effects are shown as rack mounted effects modules.
