The Squier® Standard Stratocaster® is a great playing guitar with a traditional vibe and modern feel. Player-friendly features like a 22-fret Fingerboard and a slimmer neck make for easier playing and choke-free bends. Alnico single-coil pickups provide plenty of punch.

Although this guitar is great value for money. Offers all the looks, and some of the tone of the Fender strat for a lot less; however, is nowhere near as nice to play or tonally good as the Squier Classic Vibe Strat. Put in the extra few bucks and get that one.

Prior to buying my Squier Standard Made in Indonesia ICS12013975, I only have love for MIJ Squiers (I own a Floyd Rose and a fixed bridge model). When I heard that Fender has been producing Squiers in Korea and China, my thought has always been "save for and buy a real Fender Strat."
In August 2013, I went to a local music store in Davao City and saw this Candy Red Squier Standard. Of course, the color was so beautiful it drew me in. Without any plan on buying the guitar, I asked the salesman if he could plug it in so I can try it out.
The rest is history and the guitar is with me now.
You can't get any closer to a Fender Strat sound than this guitar - that unmistakable brightness and twang on the bridge pickup, the bluesy tone on the bridge.
When I got home, I unscrewed and lifted up the pickup and saw where that genuine Strat sound was coming from: Three Alnico single coils, the look of which, was similar to my MIJ pickups. I was told the PUPs on my Squier was built by Tonerider but I didn't have a way of verifying it.
But did Fender actually intended the Indon Cort plant to become an overseas Fender guitar production similar to the one in Mexico?
Because by any angle, the Squiers produced there, like mine, sounded like they were intended to be real Fender guitars. Or Fender crafted in Indonesia but had been mistakenly stamped Squier on the headstock? I could just wonder.
At any rate, you can gig with this guitar all night and don't have to worry about reliability. I should know because I have been playing for years now

This is an amazing guitar! It outplays and outperforms guitars many times its price. I know, I have a few.

I play on several worship teams in my town, plus my band, and I needed something to hold its own against everybody else's high-quality gear. Strangely, this thing does the job wonderfully. An unfinished maple neck, tremolo arm and triple pickups are what I could not get from my other guitars. The features are standard for a Stratocaster, which means that the tone, design and playability are uncompromised. I love it!

This is not an American Stratocaster. Having said that, this guitar is 95% of an American Stratocaster. I would liken it to buying a Toyota Camry instead of a Lexus. It is basically the same experience, you get everything you need, (but maybe not everything you want) at a deeply discounted price. I especially love the clean tones this guitar produces, and the pickups are also very good, I wouldn't even want to change them. The playability of this guitar is great. It feels great to play, and the strings are slightly closer together than that of Prs, or Gibson and other leading brands. I personally like the closer strings myself. They add a huge factor to the playability overall, and the build quality is excellent especially for a guitar this low in price. This guitar is a great buy and I would recommend it to any guitar player young or old, good or bad.

I own 2 of these, a 2003 and 04 respectively which are Black and Cherry finishes with Rosewood Fretboards. Even though these were great sounding guitars when I originally bought them, I felt the need to " upgrade " them both a bit. I took out the stock 500K pots and replaced them with all new Fender 250 Ks along with a new set of Fender 57/62 pickups in each guitar as well. Now they're both great sounding guitars that I would pit up against any MIA Fender Strat . The stock tuners on these do a great job of maintaining tuning stability and the finishes on both of them still look as if they just came out of the box after all these years. I use them in my band and would never think of getting rid of them. Squier rocks , so now can I have a endorsement ? LOL.
