Few things in this world have gotten cooler with age than the Stratocaster® guitar. Born in the '50s, they became even cooler after years of use (and abuse) on the road; morphing over time to look appealingly battered and feel even better than when they were brand-new. Fender's maple-fingerboard Road Worn® '50s Stratocaster delivers that aged look and feel - built to look, sound and feel like it has more than just a few miles on it. Designed with 1950s specs, including a nitrocellulose-lacquer finish, and supercharged with Tex-Mex™ pickups and 6105 frets.

I own a black 1996 American Made Fender Strat Plus with a rosewood fingerboard that I bought new 18 years ago for $900. This has been the only guitar that I have ever owned. I love it. However, I have always wanted a maple neck sunburst strat for a change of look and sound. I thought the American Standard 3 tone sunburst was the way I was going to go. That is what everyone ends up getting right? But it was $1500. Well, after years of contemplating and shopping around (18 to be exact) I came across the 50s Road Worn 2-tone sunburst Strat. It had everything I wanted: maple neck, sunburst (the 2-tone actually looks better than the 3-tone), completely different look, feel, and sound compared to the Strat Plus I already had. BUT this one had a distressed look that made it different and unique compared to the American Standard Strat that everyone else has. And it was nearly half the price of an American Standard Strat. I've played the Am Standard Strats many times. The 50s Road Worn feels amazingly better. Without question this is The One! Sure it is made in Mexico. Who really cares. This guitar feels and sounds better than the made in America $1500 American Standard Strat. And it looks better too. BUY IT. You will NOT be disappointed.

The back of the neck is even pre-worn with 10,000 grit sandpaper, so it feels like someone has played it before me, which is awesome, it makes the neck super fast, the pick-ups have that twangy banjo like quality that i want, and it'll even play a little bit of metal if i want it too, flawless instrument.

The look and feel is great. The wood is very resonant and the neck really pleasant to play. I found TexMex Pickups too sharp for my taste and I would appreciate a more accurate worn of the frets. BUT I LOVE IT.
