HUGE Bang for Your Buck!!

(5.0)
Bigsnaketex on April 10, 2013 (updated April 10, 2013)
Semi-Professional Blues Rock

My Deluxe Player Strat may be the best bang for my buck I've ever purchased. It plays almost like a custom shop guitar. It was set up right out of the box as well as any Fender product I've ever purchased. I was able to intonate the guitar very well and I can't say that is true of the other Mexican Made product.

The bottom line is that the Deluxe Player Strat is of similar quality as my American Standard guitars - and that's the truth!

Do yourself a favor and pick up one of these - the 12" radius will make you a believer.

Great performance from a mid-priced guitar

I've had my instrument for about eight years. It's actually the Deluxe Super Strat which was the predecessor to the Player model, with the same specification apart from the pickups. The neck is a delight to play and that's what persuaded me to buy it even though it was beyond my budget.
I've never been sure what the pickups are, except that they're not the standard Mex set from that time. Suffice to say that at jam nights, people listening, and those who have borrowed it have been surprised to find that it's not an american guitar. The finish, feel and sound all lead them to believe it must be a much more expensive American model. Although I own several other guitars, this is still my 'go to' instrument for all around performance. The only reservation I have is regarding the tremolo bridge. I'm considering replacing that with a 3rd party unit which has a push-in arm as the threads are worn and sloppy on the original unit.

The guitar is great I switched the noiseless pick ups out for Texas special pickups the gold hard wear is really BEAUTIFUL and with my rosewood fret board u can get insane warm tones out of it. I love it - use it for John mayer then Stevey ray Vaughan and many more. great for its value. thank u fender

Deluxe Players Strat

I bought mine about 4 years ago and it's been a wonderful work horse instrument. In terms of fit, finish, and playability, this is a great instrument. The body is really comfortable and the hardware has held up really nicely. My favorite feature is the neck radius- the 12" radius is super easy to play and really lets you bend strings without any fretting out. As for the electronics, the blend switch is really nice. It allows for some more tone options and you can get a Tele/Jazzmaster kind of sound in the neck position with the switch down. My only complaint is the pickups. The Noiseless are nice, they get the job done, but I think they sounds a bit thin and sterile. I replaced them with a set of Seymour Duncan SSL-1's, put 5 spring to lock down the trem, and had a brass nut installed. All in all, I'm really happy with the instrument and it's a great guitar, especially for the money!
