I picked up this guitar as an extra guitar to take to low profile gigs or to just jam with some fellow musicians or take to work and practice with. It's very affordable having picked it up for $600 new which is much less then one of my more expensive American Strats. I was hoping with some work I could get it to play ok to meet my needs. When it arrived to my surprise it played great and sounded very good, much better than I ever expected in this price range. I got the Ocean Turquoise with the maple neck. I was again surprised at how nice the guitar looked and was set up when it arrived. I made a few minor little adjustments to how I prefer my guitars set up-things like string height-and it was good to go.
The body finish was good-no issues
The neck plays wonderful and is comfortable
The pickups are excellent especially in this price range- I get excellent authentic strat tones out of this guitar!
The tuners work fine-I will add Spertzel locking tuners because this guitar plays and sounds so good its worth upgradeing it with Spertzels and keeping it.
The body finish is not nitro but Hey in this price range and for how good it sounds?-who cares.
The S-1 switching is excellent-I will be adding this to my American Strats.
The Humbucker is excellent-it sounds great and is good quality. It works unusually well with the middle Texas Special pickup for the Quack tone in position 4-bridge and middle pickup. Split ueing the S-1 switch it sounds good too but I prefer to use the humbucker on full and the texas special middle pickup because the tone is really good on this guitar this way. It sounds amazing like its being boosted by a clean boost pedal.
The neck nut works ok
The string trees-......meh not a big fan of this type so I will replace them too.
Bang for the buck and especially for this price range this guitar in my opinion is almost unbeatable. It was much better than I ever expected it to be. Its an outstanding value. It plays and sounds great.

I love this model so much, I bought two of them. I'm really getting into the tone of the Twin Head humbucker in the bridge. My first one was the burgundy mist color, and after playing it for two months, I ordered the Ocean Turquoise model. I only had to do three modifications to each one. First was the resistor cap mod (which I do on all my guitars), second was to install locking tuners, and third was to enable the tone control to work on the bridge pickup. This guitar really sings. The S1 switch splitting the humbucker adds another dimension when using the bridge/middle position. For the price, these guitars are a great value.

I am also the owner of the 2008-gen Lonestar, which is an amazing guitar, and is my current No. 1. Bought the New-gen version in the Ocean w/maple neck for the purpose of having a nice contrast in both look, sound, and feel between the two Lonestars. These guitars are coming through with substantial weight variances, so I did my best to acquire as close to an 8-pounder as I could; came in at approx. 7lb-13oz. Stock Fender humbucker has what I term an impressive P.A.F.- like barking tone - like it much better than the slightly dirtier Pearly Gates Duncan on Gen-1 version, but I'm kinda miffed it has three-point mount - so if you want to replace that down the line, better get your drill out (not sure why they did that). New-gen has what feel like slightly larger frets than the first-gen - almost jumbo-like, and polished to a nice chromy finish. Wish they stayed with the tinted satin neck as Gen-1, as opposed to the gloss.... Overall - Best guitar (Lonestar/Roadhouse series) for the money, regardless of brand - period.
A 2013 Roadhouse is next on my radar screen!!!
