More about Roger Waters Precision Bass®

The Roger Waters Precision Bass® is named for the world-famous bassist/singer/songwriter whose elegant grooves and infectious riffs are hallmarks of the legendary Pink Floyd sound and an acclaimed solo career that continues stronger than ever today.

The instrument is as tastefully tailored as Waters' own simple-yet-sophisticated bass work, with distinctive features including black-on-black color scheme (black body and single-ply pickguard), Seymour Duncan® Basslines SPB-3 Quarter-Pound split-coil Precision Bass pickup, knurled black control knobs (master volume, master tone), brass nut, black bridge and strap buttons, vintage '70s-style "Fender"-stamped open-gear chrome tuners and gasketed "F"-stamped neck plate. Other features are a maple neck with vintage-style truss rod and slotted truss rod nut, 9.5"-radius maple fingerboard with 20 medium jumbo frets, gloss urethane finish (body and neck) and deluxe gig bag.

Hello I own this bass and I think it is a monster. Personally I did not like original pickup, so I swapped for 60s style and now it roars. The neck actually is not uncomfortable. At first I was afraid it will be brutally thick, but actually it feels much better than 50s precision bass which I had before. The colour of the neck is more orange than on the site picture and I think it is for the best.

Mine has a little flaw, electronics buzz a little bit, but I am going to have it fixed with copper tape and inductive paint.

I like the huge tone comming from thicker neck, together with alder body and brass nut this bass has plenty of sustain even with flats. Really good instrument. I would maybe prefer chrome hardware and 3-ply bwb pickguard instead of black 1ply, but it is just my preference. All in all great bass that can compete with some US models. Overall great precision bass with a vintage feel.

I'm using this Roger Waters P-Bass for a half year now and I love it! It has dynamic and great sound. I absolutely recommend it for everyone who's searching the classic bright, warm and deep Fender P-Bass tone. In the past I used some low-mid-ranged J-Basses and P-Basses, but I never catched this cool and elegant tone.

Since I play this instrument I hear the same sound from my amp that I heard in my childhood's favorite rock albums.

I also love it's wider maple neck, the black hardware and the brass nut. This instrument is sexy and cool.

I've been playing the Roger Waters model P-Bass for about 2 years now and absolutely love and recommend it. The tone is really rich and full, sounds great on a half-stack or a practice amp. I also play a MM Stingray and while it has a comparable thump on the low-end, it's neither as warm nor bright as my RW P-Bass. To me this is noteworthy since the Fender uses passive pickups while the Stingray uses an active pickup.

The wider neck is a lot of fun to play with, especially with bigger hands that can be clumsy later on in a gig. It's a heavier guitar, but it feels sturdy and easily compensates with the distinctive growl it emits. This bass guitar is a terrific value for the price.

The only issue I've had is that the saddles can loosen from heavy finger plucking, especially on the E and A strings. I attribute this mostly to my own playing style, but is something to look out for as it can cause you to go out of tune midway through a song. Also, playing on the wider neck takes some getting used to - in terms of finding notes, muting, as well as conditioning your hand - but is well worth it for that smoother tone.

I mostly play harder rock music, however I've also used this bass to noodle around on some bluegrass and rockabilly. With the right fretwork and muting you can make this model sound a lot like a stand-up bass.
