Fender is very proud to introduce the Johnny Marr signature Jaguar® guitar. Marr is best known, of course, as the strikingly dynamic and influential anti-hero guitarist-arranger-all-around-musical-wunderkind behind Manchester quartet the Smiths, which virtually redefined and ruled U.K. pop throughout the 1980s. A master of melody, layering and texture, Marr has always brought his own instantly identifiable ringing, jangling genius to the proceedings, as he has done in post-Smiths stints with The The, Electronic, the Pretenders and Johnny Marr and the Healers, and right up to the present with Modest Mouse, the Cribs and innumerable guest appearances.
The Johnny Marr signature Jaguar is a fantastically non-standard version of the model that is as distinctive as the sounds Marr wrings from it, with a wealth of highly specialized features including custom-wound Bare Knuckle Johnny Marr single-coil neck and bridge pickups; custom-shaped maple neck based on Marr's 1965 Jaguar, with vintage-style truss rod, lacquer finish and Marr's signature on the front of the headstock; four-position blade-style pickup switch mounted to the lower-horn chrome plate (bridge, bridge and neck in parallel, neck, bridge and neck in series); two upper-horn slide switches (universal bright and pickup switch position four bright); Jaguar bridge with Mustang® saddles, nylon bridge post inserts for improved stability, chrome cover and vintage-style floating tremolo tailpiece; and "taller" tremolo arm with arm-sleeve nylon insert to prevent arm swing.

I was slightly apprehensive about buying this but boy, I'm so glad I did. This is hands down the best guitar I have ever owned. It has everything: superb playability, great tones, super cool looks and of course, Johnny Marr's signature on it.
Some of the sounds you can get out of this thing are amazing and it's not just the kind of tones you'd associate with a Jag. For instance, I was playing around with a small tube amp and a Boss Fender Bassman pedal and with both pickups on in series - Voodoo Child sound right there! I'd love to plug this thing into a real Bassman. You can also get Chic style funky Strat sounds, twangy Tele sounds, jangly Rickenbacker sounds and a fat humbucker type tone. Practically, all bases covered.
Tuning is very stable even with heavy tremolo use and all the hardware is excellent. As others have stated the case is fantastic. I can vouch for the finish being thin and slightly flaky but it's irrelevant to me.
A truly great guitar.

Photos don't do this guitar justice. Metallic orange gives it a cool vintage look... and the hint of copper gives it rich overtones. The case - salt & pepper with black leather ends and a deep blue interior - is Fender's best looking case IMO. The fit and finish on the neck is amazing.. and the short scale combined with the vintage radius neck makes it the easiest guitar I've ever played. The tremolo system is by far Fender's smoothest. And the sound... It's like the classic Jag sound on steroids... fuller and without ever sounded thin. I also have more expensive vintage Strats and Teles... but this guitar is my favorite!

I have been using the Jagumarr exclusively for 6 months now. It is absolutely the best guitar I have played. I easily second the opinions in the other reviews. My only qualm is the finish, specifically the Oly white. The first one Fender sent me had a couple chips already down to the wood , it also wasn't wired up and produced no sound, so it was sent back immediately in hopes for one in better condition. The second one Fender sent was in much better condition (albeit a different case interior and lower serial number!) but the guitar played phenomenally well so it was an easy decision to keep it. Now back to the finish. After about 2 months of play, the reverse side started getting long black marks down the finish simply from being in the case. The black would come off with cleaning, but there was still evident damage to the finish, the undersides, specifically "pressure points" where it may rest against your body or leg eventually started bubbling, causing very small, yet rough bumps in small areas. I had been told the finish was questionable when researching whether or not to buy it, so I knew what to expect. However EVERYONE I have talked to about this guitar has had problems with the finish. some people have experienced paint falling off in flake like patterns from use with rubber and foam padded stands. This seems to be much more of an issue with the Olympic white than it is with the Metallic KO. Luckily I have managed to avoid full paint chips like I have seen with other's as well as the first guitar sent to me (straight from Fender) however I bought the guitar to be a player, much more than a collectable, So I am sure in 10 years or so I will just refinish it in Shell Pink. Overall the guitar easily gets 5's due to Johnny Marr's design and the work he put into it.

I bought my Johnny Marr Jag 5 days ago. I decided on this model after quite a lot of research and trying it out a couple of months before I was able to buy it. I love it! I have played many Jaguars over the years, owned a '64 for a while, and in my opinion, this model is hands down the best I've played. The build quality is every bit as good as my two custom shop Strats. The Metallic KO finish is impeccable. The first thing I did when I got home with it was slap on a set of 11's which really brought it to life. The amount of useful tones available is outstanding. The improvements to the bridge and vibrato make it very responsive and the tuning stability is as good as it gets. I'm playing it through my '65 Vibrolux Reverb and it sounds great in every style I throw at it. I never thought I would ever buy a "signature" model guitar, but every tweak Mr. Marr made to the design made it better. You owe it to yourself to try one out regardless of what style(s) of music you play.

I already had a Jaguar when I bought this one, but Johnny Marr really nailed it with his improvements to the classic Jaguar setup. The pickups are nice, the improved tremolo system works wonders and the 4-way switch is brilliant and looks cool to boot. This is my new main axe.

Took receipt of this guitar in white last week, as a long standing Gibson player was blown away by the setup and finish of the guitar. Case is quality and the whole package feels like care has gone into it.
The guitar is very playable straight out the box, good finish and when plugged in sings. A wide variety of tones are available with the interesting but well thoughtout pickup selection. Certainly not just for those looking for the treble side of guitar playing.

This is a monster of a guitar. There has been a lot of tweaking and development to make this a Jaguar which gives the best of the features without the annoyances. The short scale neck is probably the only thing that would put some people off - if you're use to a full size neck it feels a little small initially, but if you play this guitar as much as it deserves, you soon get use to size. The Bare Knuckle pick-ups and series switches give a lot of versatility in tonal sound - from the twangy surf sounds for which this guitar is famous to a kick-ass humbucker sound for a bit more punch.
It feels like a special guitar, it plays like special guitar, and it looks beautiful - the future as seen from the 60s. If they played guitars in Kubrick's 2001, they'd play these.
