Thurston Moore Jazzmaster®

Model : 011520

Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo. Jazzmaster® guitars slung across seminal shoulders. In the hands of both men, the sound of Sonic Youth is the sound of that guitar used as part paintbrush and part cluster bomb. If anybody ought to have a signature Jazzmaster® model, it's those two guys.

Done. Fender's Thurston Moore Jazzmaster® and the Lee Ranaldo Jazzmaster® guitars rock classic Jazzmaster® gestalt, Youth-fully stripped down and hot rodded right through the roof.

Best Jazzmaster Fender's Ever Made

(5.0)
thuggyBear on February 18, 2013
Professional Rock

Stripped down to it essentials, the TMJM is the purest, and in my opinion, maybe the best Jazzmaster Fender has ever made. The Duncan antiquities sound wonderful, and I love the neck profile with the jumbo frets.

For those who maybe be wondering, I do also own a much beloved 1964 formerly CAR JM (not a reissue). These new JMs are every bit as good.

Things that I would change: I'd go with a slightly flatter radius- the big frets do a lot to help with making this guitar easy to play, but fretting out can be a problem on the vintage radius neck. I know SY likes to keep the controls simple, but I'll be adding a volume to my guitar soon. And lastly- c'mon guys! Can a brother get another color other than green?
