GREAT BASS

I'VE HAD MY AM-STD J-BASS FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS NOW. MINE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST, APPARENTLY WHEN THE AM-STD MODEL WAS BROUGHT BACK IN 2008. I WAS ALWAYS IMPRESSED BY THE FINISH OF THE BASS...IT ALWAYS LOOKS GREAT, BUT BEYOND THAT, I'VE LEARNED TO PLAY BASS ON THIS INSTRUMENT, AND IT HAS BEEN A SWEET EXPERIENCE. GREAT LOOK, GREAT TONE, GREAT PLAYABILITY. THIS IS ONE FABULOUS PRODUCT.

I must say i love this bass. It's simply just got an extraordinary vibe, and the tone is clear and bright but still with a nice distinct warmth to it. Originally i got a 'Squier vintage modified jazz bass' for Christmas which had a problem with one of the potentiometers, so therefore i went to my local instrument dealer to get it fixed. There i got to try out this beauty. I compared it to a Mexican classic 60's, which didn't stand a chance in any way to match this fantastic piece of instrument. I was blown away! Afterwards i ended up selling the Squier and buying this instead.. And every time i plug it in i still get amazed about its great tonal character! I can't do nothing but recommend this if you've got the cash! You will in no way be disappointed!

I have played jazz basses since 1965. They are my go-to bass. I currently have three: one American Standard, one Jaco P for my fretless entry, and one 50th Anniversary Edition because it incorporates the best innovations over the years. Give me one bass, and it will be an American made jazz.

Feels Great

I had a Fender P before this bass and thought I would try something different so I sold it and bought another brand with active pickups. It felt really strange and virtually unplayable to me. I returned it and bought this J with maple fingerboard. I now have the tone I'm after with absolute playability.

Love this bass

I have played numerous basses, old and new, and this Jazz Bass is the best by far. It has very good tones, and is so smooth to play. It does have some hum when using only the neck pickup, but add in a little bridge and that goes away. All together a very good instrument.

2008 USA Std Jazz Bass

I own and play quite a number of different basses but I keep coming back to my 2008 USA Std J-Bass for it's simplicity, awesome playability, solid reliability and great tone.
I find that this bass works really well for direct o PC recordings where my other basses need tweaking. It just seems that when you plug it in you get a perfect tone that just suits all types of music that i play from Rock to Funk to Gospel and Pop etc.
I play loads of different genres of music and this is my #1 go to bass for pretty much nearly everything.
I've always had a thing for J-Basses but it was only late last year that after 30 something years of begging and borrowing that I finally squeezed the accountant (my wife :-) )to let me buy one to celebrate our wedding anniversary. So stoked I finally have an amazing piece of history in my hands!

I have one for over ten years now,
and it's still my one of my favorite guitars to play!
The sound is just as a bass should sound.
The only negative thing that I could say about this bass is that
it weighs a lot, but once you are playing, that doesn't matter anymore!
Brilliant bass!!!

A CLASSIC THAT JUST GOT BETTER

(5.0)
pattofield on February 18, 2013
Semi-Professional Blues R&B Funk Jazz Alternative Rock

I own a number of quality basses but have always been missing that classic Fender tone. I've wanted a Jazz for a long time but wasn't sure which one. It was a close call between the American Deluxe and the American Standard 2012 but I found that the Deluxe sounded more like my other active basses (albeit with a Fender flavor)....which was what I was trying to get away from. The Custom Shop 60's pickups in the Standard did it for me....they sound KILLER and just have that tone that sits so well in the mix. (and she growls like a **** when needed!!)

An absolute classic that's made even better by the pickups 'upgrade'.

Standard American Jazz Bass

(5.0)
electricbunnyman on February 18, 2013 (updated February 18, 2013)
Professional Blues Funk Jazz Rock Classic Rock Rap

This Bass is Gig ready straight out of the the box. There is not a bad thing to say about this instrument. With the custom shop 60's it has the classic fender jazz bass bite. I run it through a 610 pre and 1176 comp, then into an ampeg. This bass gives me all the growl and punch to be in bass heaven.Having the choice to string though the body or the bridge is a nice little bonus. It came with a nice SKB case, although my case did not survive the first international flight. Even with the case very badly damaged it protected the bass perfectly.

Fender American Standard Jazz Bass

You cannot go wrong if you choose fender when buying a bass. The build quality is exceptional and the instrument sounds and plays like a dream. In my opinion, this bass is great for all styles of music because there are many different tones that you can get out of this baby. It's the best purchase I have ever made! I highly recommend this bass to any fellow bassist.
