1999 Lace Model

(5.0)
0 on July 5, 2014

I bought my first Jeff Beck Strat in 1999. It had the baseball bat neck and Lace pickups. A dual Lace in the bridge position, surf green. I made a recording with the guitar and a Vox AC30 all the way up. On playback I was amazed with the sound of the rig. The harmonics were so rich. It sounded like Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds. About 2 years later, Fender changed the neck to the C shape and the pickups were changed to the familiar 3 single coils. Well I just got the new one in Olympic White and Hot Noiseless pickups. Amazingly the pickups offer very different shades available with the flip of the switch. If I had to make any changes, I would like to have Oval shaped vintage tuner buttons. Jeff is always pushing the barriers of new frontiers, and this guitar can take you there.

Great Gear

Got one used. Had been playing an American Standard before. The Standard being a great guitar, the Jeff Beck model beats it. It's the ball bearing nut that lets the guitar stay tuned when pushing the trem very hard. Really like the noiseless pickups. Especially like the sound of the two positions with pickups parallel. - Really a workhorse.

You know like when you meet someone for the first time, looking at the person and saying to yourself.. WOW!!! that's my type!! But then, you'll never know if you're made for each other until you live together... So when I saw this guitar on the wall it was love at first sight. I was almost afraid that playing her wouldn't give me the same effect she had on my eyes. Ho boy, just holding her, the feel, wow... then I made the mistake to put my left hand on the neck. Not even making a note, just holding the neck was enough for me to say to my salesman SHE'S MINE.. !!! Then you know the rest of the story... the sound of the Pickups the comfort and playability of the tremolo etc... I already own a Deluxe Telecaster and you can easily compare the features, locking keys, beveled neck heel and great noiseless pickups. I've own 3 or 4 Strats before this one and she is by far my most versatile Stratocaster with a Tremolo that just ask to be use. The only negative point I have to say is that I am not excited about the Tweed case witch is beautiful but for me doesn't feel enough rugged to carry this amazing instrument. I'm in love... Again... thanks Fender!!

Had the cheaper one in Alpine White.

Doesn't matter: The most superb guitar I've ever owned but, I had to reluctantly sell it for cash. I truly miss that guitar.
Totally great build quality, playability and "The Great One's" tone, for sure.

My jeff beck Stratocaster experience

The Jeff Beck stratocaster guitar is a unique guitar. It's a good guitar. It's a great guitar! The features are excellent and it's very easy to pull the strings since they are made of the plastogenic material which is considered to be very rich when it comes to monotoring the ambitions of the guitar. Also it is quite expensive, it is worth it I promise! The only thing bad about it is the design. The design isn't nice it should be better and healthier for the media artists. So yeah you should get it because you could always paint over the design. my name is polina and i love guitars!

At this price point, one of the best built strats I've played in a long time.

Fantastic strat with modern appointments - I must have found a cherry because the neck and frets are superb, making playability effortless.
The pickups are excellent in that they accomplish what they are supposed to - great tone and no noise. They aren't as 'snappy' as vintage-voiced single coils, but are very smooth and buttery - they seem to handle gain extremely well. I find this a great modern alternate to my other strat - a limited edition 57/62 thinskin (a vintage reissue more or less). I've owned three American Deluxe Strats; a '90, an '06 and an '07 - they were all very good guitars, but this tops them all with respect to playability and tone.....and I'm only getting more picky as I age.

This was strictly a guitar purchase, not a name purchase - I certainly do appreciate Jeff Beck's talent, but I bought this first and foremost because it topped all of the other strats I picked up within it's price range. Buttery tone, great looks and inspiring playability.

Jeff Beck Strat - Good Guitar

(4.0)
radianthawaii on February 18, 2013
Semi-Professional Blues Rock Classic Rock Pop Rock

This strat brought me back to Fender after playing other guitar brands for many years. If you compare strats this one has some features similar to the American Deluxe Strat. The neck and middle pickups sounded fine. The bridge pickup a bit too ear piercing for my taste and I have since swapped out that pickup. The modern C neck shape worked out well for my hand. The floating tremolo did not stay in tune when received, and took a lot of adjusting to get it to a useable state. The roller nut, and locking tuners is only a part the the tremolo bar stability issue. It doesn't make all the stability problems go away. I like this guitar alot, but if you can afford it the Fender American Deluxe Strat, buy that one instead, just because it is worth the extra expense. I own both, and both are keepers.

Pickups Make This Guitar!

(5.0)

Amateur Rock

I bought this guitar used in 2011. It's a 2001 model with the vintage noiseless pickups being used for the first time. Besides the gorgeous Surf Green(it looks more Sea Foam Green to me) finish, what struck me were the pickups. They are stacked humbucker-style and they have more power than any other Strat pickups I have ever used. It took awhile to get used to. I'm not used to that kind of volume out of a Strat. Now, every other Strat seems mild by comparison. The roller nut is great, though I'm not using the whammy that much. Although that is Jeff Beck's style, I may get the springs(which have gotten a bit stretched out over time) set Clapton like. It has taken the place of my old American Deluxe as my main guitar now. A nicely made value, especially as a used piece!
