Awesome bass. This bass has changed my vision on Squier products. You can have a very nice jazz bass at a very affordable price and still get that amazing sound. I'm playing it everytime I can and I'm enjoying playing it a lot. Only drawback is that maybe is a bit heavy but usually jazz bass weight quite. I don't know how it came from factory because I've bought it on a shop where a luthier adjust it a little. Also, It's aesthetically beautiful. If you don't mind that on the headstock appears Squier rather than Fender then try it! Give it a chance!

I love it! Does what I am asking from a bass guitar, easy to play, and looks great.

I've owned a couple of P-Bass copies, but never really liked the P-Bass sound.
I set a budget of £250 to buy a new bass guitar, and this bass is what I ended up buying.
My major attraction to this bass was the neck. It felt so right! I was unsure of the maple fingerboard at first, as every guitar I own has a rosewood fingerboard. There's also a definite 'snap' when the strings hit the frets. Awesome.
I tried this bass alongside the MIM Jazz Bass and could not believe that this bass could be £200 cheaper!

I knew this bass guitar by a friend of mine, who told me: "There's a really cool Squier Jazz bass in Planet Rock store. Go there and check that out." I will never regret the minutes I left my job to visit that store and know this awesome bass! I played it with a little prejudice, because I knew the California Series Squier basses, which did not please me. But it was love at first sight (or first play!). Nice playability, great woods, great sound! It was surely better built than some Standard Series Fenders I played with. I bought it instantly. I intend to change the pickups in the future for some Fender 60's, just because I love their sound.

Squier is kicking some butt with this bass!! Ever since they came out with the Classic Vibe series basses the bar started to raise for what Squier has been putting out. The instruments are getting made better, and has obviously extended out to this model which, in my opinion, wasn't that great a few years back. No longer is this just a beginner instrument. The maple neck now has a real finish on it that makes it look really nice without it feeling sticky, and it feels real solid and sturdy, too. The soft maple body is not just several pieces of wood glued together like most basses in this price range usually are made, but rather two reasonably book-matched pieces (mine has a little bit of some nice "flaming" to the grain in spots). I was also very impressed with the sound of this bass. The pickups/electronics were very balanced sounding without it being too heavy on any specific frequency giving you control on how you want to set your tone on a given amp. I highly recommend this instrument to beginners and pros alike. Beginners, you need a bass that will inspire you to practice, feel good in your hands, and pleasing to your ears. Pros, don't let the low cost or the reputation distract you: this bass can hang with anything you have in your arsenal!!

Very impressed with this Bass.
Superb tone and sound from such a cheap bass guitar.

I traded a friend for this bass and was astounded. I mean I was blown away. The frets are immaculate, the pickups deliciously juicy and warm, and the body and neck are very well made. The tone suggests classic fender but still has a bit of modern tone. the natural finish was flawless. I would recommend this bass to anyone who wants a classic jazz for a great price this is your guitar

I've become a huge Vintage Modified fan since buying this bass. I used to write off Squier as okay, entry-level stuff that in no way was desirable of anything, but something to upgrade from once you decided that guitar/bass was something you wanted to pursue seriously.
This thing is great, though. I love the neck's feel, I love the tones you can get from it and I love the design of it. I went to the local guitar store shopping for a MIM Fender Jazz, ready to pay for a MIM Fender Jazz, and I came home with this VM Squier 70's Jazz with a bigger smile on my face and more cash left in my wallet.
The only negative I'll bring up is consistency. I bought the third VM Jazz I looked at because the first two had gouges on the top of the neck binding. The first one's grain wasn't lined up at all either. Purely aesthetic issues, but the third one I saw was flawless. No reason, in my opinion, to get one with aesthetic problems if you can find one without.
