My main amp

(5.0)

Semi-Professional Blues Classic Rock

I was looking for an amp that I could take it anywhere. As I am getting older, moving my other Fender amps was becoming incredibly harder, also playing small gigs my volume was 3 or 4 max, and everybody starts to complain.
15 W is more than enough for any small even medium gig, with all the PAs nowadays, and you can push harder on the volume.
The master volume is a bliss for practicing.
This one has the look, the feel and the tone I wanted.
Sure it is not like my Bassman or Prosonic, but it Blues me every gig, also my back apreciate it.
One of my best purchase ever.

Great amp for home or live

I work for one of the major guitar stores so I have access to all the different models of the Fender Blues Jrs. From everything we see at the store and confirmed by quite a few top end people who mods these amps the main amp board is the same for all three models (BJr, Bjr NOS, BJr Spec Ed) and the only difference is the speakers in them.

I decided on the special edition because of the canabus rex speaker which still give you all the sound of a cool fender amp without all the high end shrillness you get from most of their amps. This is not bad just my take on what I am after. This speaker gives this amp such a smoother sound then the other models and you can still get the shrill top end if you want but its just a smoother sound and can do most any gig out there. If you want the high end shrillness grab the stock Bjr.

I will admit that I am going to do some mods to it to take it to the next level but for the price you can't beat it for blues/Classic rock and the southern rock like the Allman Brothers tone.

I use a 58 VOS Reissue Les Paul and a custom shop strat and it works great with either guitar, I do pull a bit of the overdrive back with using the LP so it doesn't over power the songs.

Excellent guitar amp !

The Rex speaker makes this model worth consideration as it smooths out the amp. Great for practice at home and light jam sessions in smaller venues. Nice to have in any amp collection.Try one out with this speaker - it is great.

Bad reverb tank

Professional Blues

I have one of the original Blues Jr. and it's a fine amp but I have had to replace the reverb tank 5 times! When everything is working it's a very nice sounding amp but i'm afraid to gig with it because of reliability issues.
