I got this guitar few weeks back, and I really enjoy it. I like the smooth and warm sound and it actually stays in tune really well. I was unsure whether to buy this one because it was crafted in China but I bought it and so far I have no complaints.
Even though this jazzmaster doesn't have lots of switches and all it's a pretty decent guitar for the price.

I was torn between this model and the J Mascis Squier, but went for this on the basis of the locking trem and, let's be fair, the headstock logo.
It may say Crafted in China on the back of the headstock but don't let that put you off. For the money this is a great guitar. The finish of the two-piece mahogany body is flawless and the neck is spot on as well. It arrived well set-up, although the trem lock does need adjusting.
I'd heard plenty of mutterings about the Jazzmaster trem and have got to say any worries were completely unfounded. It's not for dive-bombing or huge pitch changes, but when fitted with the adjusto-matic bridge, it works really well. I've never really got on with trems before and assumed I'd just keep it locked to aid the tuning stability but really like it.
The humbuckers are pretty high output and love some gain. The volume and tone pots are nice and smooth with a nice resistance, so as to not be knocked out of the desired position. I'd originally planned to change the pick ups and might still do that for some UK hand-wound, standard humbucked sized, wide-range design, numbers from The Creamery. Just to give the Lee Ranaldo feel at a fraction of the price.
Why the dropped star? In fairness I'd say it's a 4 & 1/2 star guitar. My only negative comment is that the tuners look a little cheap compared to those on my Road-Worn Tele Deluxe which have a similar design. They are my favourite tuners, and I actually prefer the oval buttons to the hexagons on the tele, but the slot is not as deep so the strings don't sit quite as neatly. It's hardly a reason to complain as they are smooth and hold the tuning without any problems, and let's face it, the guitar costs around 1/2 to 2/3s of the Telecaster.
This is a great guitar for £364, don't be swayed by the country of origin on the back of the headstock.
