More about American Vintage '65 Jazzmaster®

I got my Fender American Vintage '65 Jazzmaster at Matt Umanov's guitar shop in NYC. I was lucky to get one with the 1 of 46 back plate too.

This guitar sounds so good its ridiculous, the quality and overall playability is awesome. You can play almost any genre of music with it, having a good time doing it and enjoying the looks of this awesome Leo Fender design.

The only problem with it is that in 1965 nobody was thrashing their guitars and probably a modern Jazzmaster will do that job better. The notes tend to choke when you play above the 12 fret. You can fix that by adjusting the action on the guitar, but you loose by doing that to.

The tone is epic, it drives beautifully and screams if you make her.

Watch out for this one, its a keeper.

Tonal versatility is great. Note that in fenders, the center pickup switch, increases the total output. its simple pickup 1 + pickup 2. But in more traditional guitars with 2 humbuckers, the center mode have the same output as one pickup alone.
in this case, its like you have one high output humbucker in middle mode . and if you dont like that, that Jazzmaster, Jaguar lead/rhythm Swithches are ready ! any output and gain you want ...

the only drawback is the bridge. In this model bridge angle is low. You cant pick hard with 9-42 gauges . but 10 wil do the job :)
and theses pickups. THESE are NOT simple single coils with their characteristics. They are something like P90s but with different Coiling pattern. They have warm and powerful sound. if I should find a suited humbucker, they sound like Alnico Pro 2 o pearly gates from SD or simple PAF pickups .
