Custom Artist
Eric Clapton 10th Anniversary of Crossroads Antigua Custom Shop Stratocaster®
9233000281

In the 1970s, Fender introduced the Antigua finish on a number of models, from the flagship Stratocaster® guitar to the classic Coronado bass. Described as a "rich antique-white finish with halo-mist shading," it was a stunner, and it became highly prized among collectors worldwide.

Fender released its first-ever signature model guitar in 1988—the Eric Clapton Stratocaster. Several variations of it have been released since, from Custom Shop specialties to the current Artist Series models. Clapton’s vision of opening a world-class drug-and-alcohol treatment center on the island of Antigua became a reality in 1998. The non-profit Crossroads Centre has developed into an internationally recognized treatment center providing services to people and their families suffering from the devastating effects of addiction.

Sam Ash Music co-CEO Richard Ash sought in 2008 to incorporate the spirit of the Eric Clapton Stratocaster into the spirit of the Crossroads Centre. He commissioned a limited run of 100 of the signature guitars in the classic Antigua finish, accompanied by a commitment to donate $100,000 to the Crossroads Centre. That’s how the Fender Eric Clapton Antigua Stratocaster was born.

These highly collectible guitars were built in the Fender Custom Shop and will be available on a first-come-first-served basis. Features include a select alder body, one-piece maple neck with soft "V" shape, 22 vintage-style frets, three vintage noiseless pickups, "blocked" American Vintage synchronized tremolo and vintage-style black case. Each instrument is individually numbered (1 through 100) and comes with an official certificate of authenticity.
