your guitar is a frankenstein how can you have a 53 body and a 62 neck.

I can answer that quite easily. It's very similar to 53strat's story where some old Fender parts were put together to make a guitar for a friend. In 53strat's case, George F. brought the parts over to 53strat's house about a year after they served their purpose. They used the old body/trem systems and newer neck and other parts.

I could imagine that this early body with the original Jazzmaster-like trem was sitting around the factory (it's said that Leo didn't throw anything away!). In 1962, somebody has it painted. They put a 1962 neck on it, a 1962 pickguard and other 1962 parts to make a guitar for an employee. I was expecting vinnypop to find 1962 parts under that pickguard.

I want to know what the back of the guitar looks like.

That trem does not look like any Jazzmaster trem prototype from ~1957 that I've ever seen. Those all looked more like the two-oiece system that went into production. Of course, the 1953 version was a prototype.

the neck has 3 serial numbers indicating a 1962/63 neck but ive just rechecked it and there is no truss rod its a hunk of wood very well made the head stock is not a stuck on decal its a proffessional Fender logo with the 3 serial numbers. The body behind the 4 screw fender backplate has the neck bolted on with 3 bolts. What the xxxxxx this is either a 1962 prototype or the greatest scam I have ever seen and really the guitar is from the early sixties the logo is authentic and the neck is aged very old and worn the vintage plate tremelo is old and worn too to those who saw it on my clip if its not a prototype ive been ripped off no one here from fender is helping me ive contacted the previous owner and told him I want my money back if he doesnt respond im going to the police I have his bank account number and he must have been identified with an address im in sydney he is in Melbourne he did say he would give me 7 days full refund if this is a hoax from the sixties ive never seen anything like this in my life most of you saw the tremelo vibrato it was the exact story from the fender chronicles. sad Sad(((((((((((((((((((( Im putting up the tremelo vibrato pic now again on my vinnypop youtube channel I feel real sick please look at this tremelo system and guitar no music no hype and please help me identify the tremelo system it will be called Is this the 1953 Failed Fender Vibrato

I feel sorry for you Vince but you should have had the guitar authenticated before buying. Especially if it is such a rare instrument. Unbelievable!! Confused

looks like my second theory was correct: it isn't real at all.

though it would fit the Jazzmaster theory I produced!

I can assure you the there is a chance the body is legit, but not a '53. If it is anything real, it is what I showed with my theory.

by the way, here are some more pictures of 53strat's strat, at his website here:

http://www.strat-central.com/external/fdp229.html

I'm sorry to hear of your discovery, Vinny. I really am.

Sorry, but I'm just not buying it for reasons that Chanman246 and others have enumerated. Extraordinary claims require real proof, and haven't seen any yet. Confused

Well spotted, frantic...

I guess to see how long it was before someone told him to "put up or shut up", as Martian said.

We're a pretty polite bunch - I kinda think ultimately that reflects well on us.

Ah well: nobody hurt.

I cant wait till people start trying to sell road worns as originals on ebay ,I guess if I saw an original 53 strat for sale I would commision a appraiser , a small price to pay to make sure the instrument is authentic .
