Hello,
I bought a 64 relic Jazz bass a month or so ago, and it's such a beautiful thing, I'm very pleased with ho wit sounds and plays etc. It was sold as being a ltd edition (which the neckplate states) and having a Brazilian Rosewood board. It certainly looks different than normal indian rosewood, but I'm not expert enough to know the difference, and wondered if there's a registry of serial numbers that will confirm that it is. Not that I'd care if it wasn't, as it's still a gorgeous thing, but just curious.
Thanks |

| Hi holio, I'm curious what the answer to your question will be. I just purchased a 2009 Black Limited 64 Jazz Bass NOS, but there is no mention of the type of rosewood used for the fingerboard that I can find. Did your dealer tell you it was Brazilian rosewood? Mine is not very dark in color so I'm assuming it is indian rosewood, but i'm not an expert in wood species. Could you show us some pictures? I totally agree with you that its not going to make any real difference, but it would be nice to know. Thanks |

| I just bought a 2009 Black limited edition 64 Jazz Bass. My neckplate only has a serial number, but the COA says its a limited edition. You would think there would be some consistency regarding documentation, but this does not seem to be true. I have a friend that bought a limited 64 Strat and his fingerboard is very dark unlike mine which has more red in it. I'm guessing its mine is indian rosewood. Is yours darker in color? When you say it says it on the neckplate could you be more specific?. Thanks |

[quote="holio cornolio"]Hello,
Failing to get a reply here from someone who knows, suggest you post on Mike Eldreds' Forum asking whom to contact to obtain the specs on the fretboard particular to the limited edition bass you've just purchased.

| Well they didn't know either. The customer service rep told me it was probably Madagascar rosewood. It is more of a chocolate brown than red, but in all honesty I don't really care at this point. I LOVE THIS BASS!!!!! |
