Hi All,
after a lot of uncesssusful trials to update my GDEC30 from 1.02 to 1.4 I've just found out that the update software doesn't care about the selections made regarding the MIDI In/Out ports.
I'm using WIN XP SP3 and a MidiSport 8x8 with latest drivers. Normal MIDI communication with the GDEC30 is pretty good but the update is not.
I've made all my trials using
In-8 USB MidiSport 8x8 and In-8 USB MidiSport 8x8
but the update software is always using
In-1 USB MidiSport 8x8 and In-1 USB MidiSport 8x8
in spite of any other selections.
Reconnecting the MIDI cables to In-1 USB MidiSport 8x8 and In-1 USB MidSport 8x8 the update was successfull without any problem.
It seems to me the the Updater requires an Update!!!!!
Regards Walter |

I'm sure that it's being looked into. _________________ Being able to play and enjoy music is a gift that's often taken for granted.

It sure is buggy, it seems that if you have multiple MIDI ports it will only update to the first found (default), even if you change the ports! At least that's what it did with my MidiSport 2X2 Anniversary, once I plugged the G-DEc into ports (A) everything was okay. I did have to mess around with the MidiSport somewhat first due to the driver not installing correctly on Vista due to UAC and the very cryptic instructions on the MidiSports "Midi Thru | USB/Merge" switch. Midi-OX was invaluable for troubleshooting, for a MIDI newbie like me at least!
I wouldn't bet money on Fender fixing the updater ..... after all they make guitars not computer software |
