Blink-182 paid tribute to their friend Adam Goldstein, known as DJ AM, during their show in Hartford, Conn. on Saturday night.
“We lost a really dear friend yesterday,” said a choked up Mark Hoppus from the stage. “He was an innovator and he was a genius and he loved music more than any other person on this planet, and above all, he was an amazing friend. We’re doing the best we can to get through tonight, but right now I’d like to take down the lights and have a moment of silence for our friend Adam.”
As part of a Who’s Who of Music series, Geek’s.co.uk (Cool Stuff for Clever People) put together a homage to Leo Fender. The piece gives some background info on Leo, and then has photos and descriptions of some of the famous Fender Telecaster and Fender Stratocaster players.
I’d like to make sure all of our readers out there are fully aware of this rare opportunity to own one of Robin Trower’s Signature Stratocaster® guitars, all of which are setup by our Custom Shop Master Builder Todd Krause.
Trower currently has the prized Strat with him out on the road, but he’s agreed to part with it after his last tour date on Oct.18, which happens to coincide with your last day to register for the drawing.
So, take a few minutes to enter, and you may be the fortunate player out there who is awarded this high-priced guitar!
Yeah, yeah, I know, most of you out there are thinking “I never win anything,” or “No one ever wins these damn things.”
The California Kid was a 1974 TV movie featuring Nick Nolte, Vic Morrow and Martin Sheen. Sheen plays a hot rodder, out for revenge against a sadistic, small-town sheriff (Morrow) who was responsible for his brother’s death. Morrow’s routine is to punish those breaking the speed limit by deliberately running them off precipitous mountain curves.
Even in his personal life, Sheen looks out for others. For over ten years, he’s been a volunteer at the St. Joseph Center in Venice, Calif.
During a recent visit to the St. Joseph Center last Thursday, Sheen autographed a Fender Custom Shop California Kid Stratocaster® that was donated to the charitable community center. The design of the guitar is based on the 1974 hot rod classic film. The custom paint design on the guitar was created by Manuel Reyes, the same artist who painted the ’34 coupe that Sheen drove in the original movie.
