New Album Coming for Paramore

Paramore, a pop-punk quintet from Tennessee, recently announced that Brand New Eyes, their third studio album on Fueled by Ramen, will be released on Sept. 29.

Paramore’s Hayley Williams explained the meaning behind the title to MTV News, saying, “Basically, the concept is, ‘In order for our band to move on to whatever’s next — and also us personally, as individuals, in order to grow up — [we needed to start] seeing each other, seeing everything, in a whole new perspective. Just trying to let go of whatever we might have struggled with in the past and just see each other in a new way.”

The band’s previous album Riot! sold a million copies. Given the band’s rise in popularity since then, Brand New Eyes will likely be in serious demand, so you might want to go ahead and preorder your copy at paramore.net beginning July 7.

And if you just can’t wait to hear their new stuff, try catching them on tour this summer as the opening act for No Doubt.

Legendary rock guitarist Eddie Van Halen wed Janie Liszewski at his seven-acre estate in the hills above Studio City, Calif. on Saturday evening.

The Sonus Quartet performed Van Halen’s “When It’s Love” as the bride walked down the aisle.

Van Halen’s son, Wolfgang, stood in as best man for the 20-minute ceremony, which was officiated by brother Alex Van Halen, an ordained minister.

Catch Guitar Prodigy on The TODAY Show

Guitarist, singer and songwriter Quinn Sullivan has shared the stage with blues legends Buddy Guy and B.B. King, and has played at illustrious venues like The Beacon Theatre in New York City and the Orpheum Theater in Boston.  He was also invited to appear on Guy’s GRAMMY®-nominated album Skin Deep, showing off his guitar skills in a solo on the track “Who’s Gonna Fill Those Shoes.”

With appearances on the Ellen Degeneres Show and Oprah already on his resume, Sullivan will next perform on The TODAY Show this coming Tuesday.

By the way, Sullivan is only 10-years old.

Michael Jackson Dead

King of Pop Michael Jackson is dead at age 50.

Fred Corral of the L.A. Coroner’s Office officially announced on CNN that Jackson was declared dead at approximately 2:26pm PT after arriving at the hospital and being deemed unresponsive.

TMZ.com was the first to report Jackson’s death, although a short time later CNN reported that the pop star was still alive, but in a coma.

Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Steve Ruda said Jackson was not breathing when paramedics arrived at Jackson’s Bel-Air home at 12:26 p.m. PST on Thursday.  The paramedics administered CPR and then quickly transported the pop star via ambulance to UCLA’s Medical Center.

The emergency entrance at the UCLA Medical Center was roped off with police tape as news trucks converged on the scene. As word of his death spread, hundreds of fans gathered at the hospital to pay homage to the legendary pop star. (Many of us at Fender headquarters in Scottsdale quickly pulled up some of his hit songs in remembrance of the performer.)

The singer was preparing for a sold-out concert series, set to kickoff on July 13 at London’s O2 arena, in what would have been his first tour since 1997.

It’s the third death to hit Hollywood this week.

Best known for being Johnny Carson’s sidekick on the Tonight Show, Ed McMahon, 86, died early Tuesday morning following a battle with cancer.

Charlie’s Angels’ star Farrah Fawcett died this morning after a three-year battle with cancer. The actress was 62.

Sonic Youth Eternal Cover

Sonic Youth’s new album The Eternal has entered The Billboard 200 list at #18, the best charts debut the band has seen in nearly 30 years.

Rolling Stones predicted the success of the indie-rock legends’ sixteenth album back in February, calling it “predictably stellar.”

The Eternal was released in the United States on June 9 under independent label Matador Records.

Just last week, Fender announced the release of Sonic Youth Signature Jazzmaster Guitars
