If you're looking for exceptional value in a Precision Bass you should stop here and take a look. I've been playing Fender Basses for over 35 years and this is as good as any I've owned. It's a '70s style bass at a '70s price. It has a comfortable neck and I love the black/maple look. Slap on a set of flats and it's a Motown and Memphis Stax thumping soul machine. The Matt Freeman is a perfect partner for my CV '60s Jazz Bass which is also a great value for those who prefer it's thinner neck and greater tonal versatility.

I think Fender has scored big time with these basses and I consider then to be the kingpins of the Squier CV line. Whether you're a bedroom player or play professionally there's nothing lacking in the ability of these basses as far as getting you where you want to go. I gig with these basses every week and I'm very pleased with their feel and playability. I've done nothing more to either but to put on my favorite strings and install my favorite pickups just to get the specific tonality I'm after but that's a matter of personal tastes. Out of the box both of my CV Basses were in almost perfect playing shape.

Are you looking for a good backup bass? Or maybe this is your first investment in an iconic bass?

So you just found it! This constitutes a good (for a Squier) first step in the fender legacy. It is also a very good backup bass to carry on gigs... the tone button offer a good versatility and the classic split-coil deliver sharp and deep vibes! I play it in an Ampeg SVT-4 through Aguilar tweed cabinet and i was surprised the first time i played that baby (that is now played with 45-105 flat-wound strings).
