I have not purchased this bass yet, but will buy it 2 days from now. My very first brand new bass was a MIJ 1987 Fender P-Bass. For the last 10 years I have been using a Jazz Bass most of the time. I do take both to gigs. My 1987 is still in good condition and I love playing it, but there are clubs that we play where I am nervous about taking it. That bass has a lot of sentimental value to me, and after 26 years I want to retire it and use it at home or very special gigs. Since I use a Jazz 70% of the time and a P-Bass 30% I don't want to buy a real expensive P-Bass. I do have a Squier Affinity P-Bass also, but it was very beat up when I bought it, and on classy gigs, It doesn't look good with a beat up instrument. So, I flipped over the classic vibe. It feels just like my old '87 P-Bass. It has the vintage 1 3/4 width neck and the thick glossy finish. The weight and balance are almost identical to the old '87. Off the rack it will need a set up. The action is super high and has about .060 relief on the neck. I can set it up pretty quickly. The tuners are solid and smooth, the bridge is better than the MIM bridges. Finish is flawless. The pickup sounds great, Volume and Tone pots have a good taper to them. Everything is tight except the input jack, easy fix. I am looking forward to getting it. It will take me about 20 minutes to set it up. The cost on this bass is very affordable. I was looking at several MIM basses. I own 2 MIM jazz basses, but guitar center only had white or sunburst on P-Basses in stock. The red classic vibe grabbed my attention.
I am a Fender owner, vintage bass freak, and also a huge Pino Palladino fan. I can not afford the Fender Pino signature bass, so I bought this bass brand new, sealed in the factory packaging, about 3 weeks ago. I hadn't played it yet, but was hoping it would be what I was looking for...
Boy, I was not expecting it to be this good! Right out of the box, the fit and finish of this bass was perfect. Medium-low action, great fretwork, awesomely tight neck joint, smooth pots.
The color of the body, the vintage tint gloss on the neck, the quality of the hardware, and the way it perfectly balances on a strap or on the lap are all above and beyond for a bass at this price. I own an American custom shop Fender J, that cost 4x what this bass did, and I'd say that the fit and finish is actually comparable.
The biggest concern I had was the tone... Some Ps are clanky and thin sounding, and that is NOT what I'm looking for. The pickup on this bass is warm, deep, and BASSy. I want booty, and this thing has it! The tone pot is also top notch, it has a smooth curve and real gradual response when turned (not that typical all-or-nothing cheap tone pot).
The minute I got it home, I put some Flatwounds on it, and it has been the only bass I've played for the last three weeks. I'm so happy with it, for this price I want to be able to find some sort of problem with it to justify the low price! I bought it intending to get by for a while until I could replace the neck with a vintage Fender P, but I'm never changing it, it's perfect. I also was prepared to replace the tone pot and pickup, but I'm positive ill never have to. I am still shocked at how great this bass is for the price, I played it side-by-side with made in America Fender Pbasses at guitar center, and it actually had a rounder, deeper tone. I am getting over the S logo on the headstock instead of my beloved F logo, and am fully embracing this as one of my new main basses for the long-run!

I got one of these a couple of years ago and i must say i'm still kind of amazed of the value of it. It simply feels like pure quality and it looks so good! I must say that the pickups are a little bit dead and the pickguard looks really, really bad! But if you have the money then i would recommend you to get a nice set of pickups, get a new pickguard, and maybe use it with flatwounds. (I do to get that warm classic mellow p-bass sound, but don't if you prefer modern tones) But if you are not willing to spend the money on a MIA standard Precision bass, i must say that this is probably the best bass, especially if you think about the price of it.
Great bass, little money, just an awesome piece of equipment!

Great bass, unbelievable value, and the color is perfect. Looks like Pino`s at a fraction of the cost. Actions a little high, and new strings would make a difference, but at this price, you cannot complain. Really great bass, great sounds and looks for £320! Highly recommended.
