This bass needs to be judged on its own merits. Don't compare it to the proven P and J basses. First of all, the star of this bass is the five selection pick up. It has a very unique sound that fits in the genres I play- classic rock, worship. Also has a massive bridge, beautiful transparent charcoal finish with a new body profile that is small but feels very good and light. The fretboard and nut are finished with a quality touch. The head stock is stained with a vintage amber color and a silver applique fender logo unusually found in the higher end basses. The sound is bright but with no overtones great definition in delivery. It is good to see Fender move away from their comfort zone. Absolutely there are no issues with sharp fret edges, well finished. The easy access to the truss rod is a huge plus - all basses should have this standard. But I did some modifications. I needed a tone knob and added a .047 cap and the range is much better and varied. I also changed the chrome knobs to jazz tops. Now it is awesome and to my liking.

I just received my Candy Red Dimension bass, and I have to say its playability is awesome. I'm really enjoying the triplebucker pickup's versatility.

I recently played this bass in a local music store. White/maple with black pickguard.
The electronics are incredible - I love the five way selector (coil tap), neck is beautiful and executed perfectly. Amazing to play, and so good looking - much better in the flesh than pictures. I fell in love.
Only minor down side is a little neck heavy due to the small body. This would be perfect as a short scale with the same body size - hint hint Fender! If there was a 30" scale one of these (either modern player or squier classic vibe) in white/maple with black pickguard I'd buy it straight away.
Just bought my Dimension bass. The neck is very good. And the sound is very clean and smooth.

Just picked up my Dimension bass. Needed a small truss rod tweak to suit my style and tune but that was all. Looks great, and plays even better.
Bought as a back up to my beloved Japanese P bass. Pickup is killer. The P bass may have to take a back seat for a while. Superb value for a 'Fender' badged guitar. Love it.
