Limited Edition '65 Deluxe Reverb® "Bordeaux Blues" FSR

Model : 02174006
$1,479.99MSRP

A 400-unit North American limited run of this strikingly elegant amp was introduced in early 2012.

This luxurious 22-watt ’65 Deluxe Reverb model in wine red with wheat grille cloth is an excellent "vintage" with a perfectly balanced "bouquet"—perfect for rock, blues and country players seeking a fine moderate-power amp for stage and studio. The crystalline sonics of its single 12" Jensen® P12Q speaker produce subtly nuanced clean tone and deeply satisfying vintage crunch when cranked up.

Like a 57 Tweed but with Reverb

Semi-Professional Blues Rock Classic Rock Pop Rock

The key thing to know on the Fender Deluxe Reissues is that this this is a 'plug and play' amp if you would like to get to 1960s rock sounds recorded through a Fender amp. The wattage is low enough you can use it in a largish room without an attenuator. The speaker in this special run is the same as used in the 57 reissues. But the 50s era Deluxes did not have reverb. So, this is a reverb Deluxe but with a tweed era reissue speaker. In playing the amp, it has the classic Fender 'chimey' clean sound. Overdrive starts around 4.5. Without much attach or rolling off the guitar volume, it cleans up easily. But with a Les Paul or other humbucker guitar, you immediately get the overdrive sounds on songs like Brown Sugar or Cinnamon Girl. With the volume on about 6, you get a similar overdrive to what you hear on Can't You Hear Me Knocking. At about 7 and beyond, the amp distorts. If you would like to get more volume without going from overdrive to distorting badly, you might try the 65 Deluxe Reissue with the standard speaker. This is a fantastic, professional quality amp.

"65" D R says it all

Semi-Professional Blues Jazz Rock

This is a quality product. My tendency is to play Jazz but I also play Rock and Blues as well. That being said, I am able to coax the clean to the slightly dirty tones I like from this "Bad Boy". There is plenty of headroom in this amp from practice to perform. When I read the reviews from the online cats just like me I knew it was time to drop the change and make it mine. Give yourself time to dial in your tone and of course the tones from the "Greats" who used this model amp. It is really quite a simple layout on the front as you have "Normal" & "Vibrato" inputs. Channel 1 is for passive and Channel 2 is for active instruments and there is definitely a difference in volume levels so choose the correct one for your application. The "Reverb" quality is what you would expect from Fender. The "Vibrato" is an aquired skill that I am working and seems to be proportional or linear with the turn of the knob. The "Red Wine" I purchased is an eye catcher. One more observation is that I have to be patient and allow the amp to warm up on "Stand By". I just can not wait it seems but as it warms to operating temperature I am in SONIC HEAVEN.
