These handles are trash. The dog-bone design is one of my favourites, but these moulded plastic ones always break. Fender should start making them in leather again. Don't buy these handles.

Problematic handle!

I have a Super Sonic 22 amplifier which I rated about 1 month after buying the amp in January of 2013. You can find it on this site. I gave the amp 4 out of 5 stars because the build quality was less than stellar. It buzzes on low frequency notes. The handle, specifically the 'Dog Bone' handle, is easily broken by picking up the amp. I am on my THIRD handle in 10 months. The small metal connectors slice like a knife through the plastic neoprene (?) like butter, especially if you are lifting the amp on an angle other than perpendicular to the ground. I lay the amp on its backside in my car trunk when I go to a gig or practice. These sideways moves may start the slicing into the plastic and weakens it. It will soon fail.

It's too bad because the amp is a winner in sound and reliability. Luckily I was not transporting the amp on a stairway and the distance it fell was negligible on each occurrence of failure. I am looking at a vintage leather handle replacement that has a 2 pin or screw connector. Fender did send me a new dog bone handle once; I bought the first replacement. The 5 year guarantee does cover the handle; I would like a more permanent solution from Fender.

Broken Handle

My girlfriend bought me a new Hot Rod Deluxe 3 for my birthday. My old amp had just died, good timing. However, the fourth time I picked up the amp, the handle just let go. It almost looked like it had been sliced by a knife. If the handle is so crappy, what is the rest of the amp quality? I'm wondering if I made the right choice in amps, buying Fender.
