American Design Experience FAQ

Configuration

  • Does vintage-style hardware fit on a modern ADE instrument or vice versa?
    • No. Vintage-style parts have screw mounts and dimensions that are not always compatible with those of modern Fender instruments. Only compatible components will be available for selection in the configurator as you create your ADE instrument.
  • Can I put a right-handed neck on a left-handed body?
    • Yes. However, this option is only available for Stratocaster® guitars at this time. Please check back for additional options in the future.
  • Can I order my instrument with a custom setup or lower string action?
    • Unfortunately, no. All ADE instruments come with a standard factory setup using the string set you have selected. As ADE is not an actual “Custom Shop,” we cannot perform custom setups at this time. We strongly recommend visiting an FMIC Authorized Service Center if you are interested in making a substantial change to the setup of your ADE guitar or bass.
  • Can I order my instrument with different string gauge than those offered within ADE?
    • Unfortunately, no. We cannot accommodate requests for strings sets that are not offered outside of the selection offered by ADE.
  • Can I order a partially completed instrument without pickups or other components?
    • Unfortunately, no. All ADE guitars and basses are produced as completed instruments. We suggest visiting an FMIC Authorized Service Center if you are interested in customizing or modifying your ADE guitar or bass.

      NOTE: Any damage to an instrument resulting from customization or modification will not be covered under the Fender warranty.

Security & Authenticity

  • What’s covered under the ADE warranty?
    • ADE instruments are covered by the Fender ADE Limited Lifetime Electric Instrument Warranty. For more information about the terms and conditions please refer to the complete ADE warranty.
  • Will Fender give me a receipt for my ADE instrument as proof of purchase?
    • Yes. Your order confirmation receipt can be used as an official proof-of-purchase document.

      NOTE: Proof of purchase is required for all warranty-related services performed at an FMIC Authorized Service Center.
  • Where are ADE instruments built?
    • ADE instruments are built at our Corona, Calif., flagship facility, home of the original American Design Experience in the Fender Visitor Center.
  • How does the online ADE experience differ from the ADE experience at the Fender Visitor Center?
    • Both ADE experiences allow users to create an exclusive instrument that is specially crafted by Fender and shipped directly to customers.

      Our web-based ADE platform lets customers select production components from the Fender factory in order to configure their complete ADE instrument. At the Fender Visitor Center, ADE customers can choose from unique components and combinations that may only be available on the specific day of their visit.

  • I’m having trouble placing my order. How do I get help?
    • For any questions regarding your order, contact the Fender Consumer Relations Department (800) 856-9801 or via email at ADEhelp@fender.com. A Consumer Relations representative is available to answer your questions Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. MST. We are closed on all major holidays.
  • Do I need to pay for shipping?
    • No. Standard ground shipping is included in the cost of your ADE purchase. A signature will be required upon delivery. Expedited shipping options are available at checkout for an additional fee.

      *Please note that we currently deliver orders within the United States only. For American Design Guitar purchases, expedited shipping will not impact the actual build time of the guitar. All items in the shopping cart will ship for the quoted price.

  • Can Fender expedite the construction of my ADE instrument?
    • Not at this time.
  • Will I be required to pay sales tax?
    • Possibly. All items sold by Fender.com are subject to sales tax levied in accordance with the applicable laws of the state to which the order is shipped.
  • Can I track my instrument after it has been shipped?
    • Yes. Login to Fender.com and navigate to Store > My Account > My Orders and select your transaction. You will see a confirmation code and FedEx tracking number.
  • Where can ADE instruments be shipped?
    • At this time, ADE instruments can only be ordered and shipped within the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii, A.P.O./F.P.O. addresses and P.O. Boxes.
  • How long will it take to receive my ADE instrument?
    • Your ADE instrument will ship from the Fender factory within 90 days of placing your order.
  • When will I be charged for my purchase?
    • Because every ADE instrument is a custom instrument, payment will be processed at the time your order is placed.

  • What’s included with my ADE purchase?
    • Each ADE instrument will arrive in the case of your choice along with the following materials and accessories:
      • Certificate of authenticity with dedicated serial number
      • Instrument owner's manual
      • ADE collectible booklet
      • Strap
      • Polishing cloth
      • Instrument cable
      • Genuine Fender tremolo arm (included with Stratocaster® guitars only)
      • Adjustment wrenches
  • Can I cancel my order?
    • No. Orders cannot be canceled once they have been placed. You may return your ADE order once you have received it as long as the instrument is within the terms of the ADE return policy.
  • What is the ADE return policy?
    • You may return your instrument within 30 days of receipt. For more information view the complete ADE return policy.
